DESERT RAIN is a precious gift from the clouds in the sky. Rain in the desert is a gift of life. Many native tribes of the high desert plateaus of the Southwest depend on the rain for the growth of their crops and to supply the water wells and cisterns with drinking water. This water maiden uses big pottery water vessels or tightly woven baskets to carry water back to her village from the water source.
