CLASSIC MIMBRES POTTERY DESIGN – These images are from ancient pottery design of the Mimbres culture that occupied the Mimbres Valley in southern New Mexico. These people created paintings on pottery for six hundred years (550AD-1150AD). The entire Mimbres culture vanished, leaving behind little evidence of their lifestyles, but did leave these incredible paintings inside simple clay bowls. Many of the striking geometric designs represent human figures, animals and plants, things from nature that touched their every day lives.
